The question of what is “real” or “not real” is a philosophical problem that affects not only magick and metaphysics but all science, religions and personal perceptions of “truth.” The word REALITY comes from an Indo-European root “reg,” which is related to a “measuring device” or “ruler” (and also as a “ruler” as in “king”). FANTASY comes from the root “bha” or “pha” meaning: “to bring to light.” SANE has an Italic root for “clean” or “healthy.” Functionally: the king or “ruler” of the “real” or “realm” would set the boundaries of “real estate” including what is “real” and “not real” in the realm (reality). So if the king says it is not so, or not of the realm, then it is not REAL. The Implcation: those who are in agreement or consensus with the realm are healthy and clean and those who are not are mentally ill or insane.
